Brits demand 16% pay bump to change jobs

London, 14 November 2014 - New research from Monster.co.uk revealed that half of Brits (50%) would expect a pay rise of more than 16% to consider moving jobs, and over one third (35%) wouldn’t switch without at least a 20% pay increase.

However there may be just cause for workers’ growing optimism. In recent months there have been repeated suggestions that Britain is on a steady path to economic recovery, as well as reports that pay rises have exceeded inflation nationwide for the first time since the financial crisis. The research also highlighted that only 1 in 10 Brits would be inspired to change jobs for a less than 5% rise.

Andy Sumner, Managing Director for Monster UK and Ireland, commented, "As the job market improves, businesses should consider what their current staff are really worth to avoid losing them to bigger budget competitor, whilst also offering fair salary raises for prospective employees. This will make sure employers find, and keep, the best possible talent."
